Palermo: AI*IA Workshop for cultural heritage
Italy
15 September 2011 - Workshops
AIMS AND SCOPE
This workshop must, once again, be seen as one in a series of actions undertaken to promote an increasingly more active collaboration between the sectors of cultural assets and artificial intelligence. The auspice to fulfil a fruitful point of contact between cultural heritage and advanced informatics has become a concrete reality, in the last decade, through both several discussions and the development of new applications of informatics and artificial intelligence to specialized themes of cultural heritage. This event is inherently interdisciplinary and integrates computer and information sciences with any aspect of the cultural heritage sector. The topics will include: experiences in the use of innovative technologies/methods; methodologies for documenting, managing and communicating cultural heritage and how to take best advantage from the integration of the results obtained in order to build up new tools. The workshop will provide the opportunity to present, share and discuss the experience of practitioners and academic researchers in managing cultural heritage resources.
A panel session, with invited speakers, relating to the innovative use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of Cultural Heritage will open the workshop.
